A fantastic, rare ancient Perisan Bronze Age dagger or short sword, dating to approximately 1200 - 800 B.C. This magnificent ancient weapon has a beautiful patina. It is cast in one piece, with fanned pommel, full grip, and short flanges. The hilt, recessed for bone or wooden inlay, now long perished. A piece of coiled bronze, wrapped around the hilt, likely intended to keep the original inlays fixed in place, makes a rare and interesting addition to this ancient weapon. This piece is extremely well made and far superior to the majority of similarly sized Persian blades. The quality of manufacture and preservation are both exceptional. This dagger would have originally formed part of the burial contents of a wealthy Persian Warrior. The Bronze Age Peoples of Ancient Persia, were a warrior-society who were expert metal-workers. Guaranteed authentic as described. Condition: Very fine for a weapon of this age and type, unrestored. Please see pictures Length of weapon: 12 1/2 inches. Provenance: Ex. British Private Collection. Ex London Art Market.
