The late Wallace Katz was a prolific collector of ancient coins and antiquities, buying actively from New York and London galleries until the mid-1990's. He was particularly interested in coinage with known findspots, and collected coins from known hoards as well as shipwreck coinage and other artifacts. Part of his estate was liquidated in Sothebys New York, with the proceeds going to charitable causes in the New York area. ArtAncient Limited is pleased to have acquired a substantial portion of the Katz collection.
